look, i'm sorry if this has been covered, but i've not been able to keep 
track of this conversation and am not entirely clear regarding what's going
on with it (despite the estimated 200 mails a day on case sensitivity), but...

out of curiousity, what does such a decision need to be part of the standard?
both case-sensitive and case-insensitive behaviour may be desirable or 
useful, and it shouldn't be too difficult to write a translation layer 
between the two.  why does case sensitivity warrant this much attention?
