FYI, I designed the dimming circuit for the display, and I'm super paranoid about things keeping me up at night. I made it so that even in a darkened bedroom, the dimmest setting is just readable. The current software does auto-dimming, or manual dimming -- you choose. There is still some optimization that needs to be done on the dimming algorithms, but it's really pretty good as is. Future software may allow even dimmer settings.
