DRM has to be supported in the player firmware. In case of the the players based on the ip3k chips the point is moot as they can not accomodate any moore big changes even if logitech wanted (similar things have been discussed in the past ) They can't even bring AAC to these players, they are full . And the latest development is that they don't develop new functions for this platform anymoore anyway, but in this case I think it is unfeasible for technical reasons.
"ip3k" based players SB2 ,SB3 (aka SB classic) Transporter ,Boom , Receiver part of the duet . That leaves Touch and Radio as possible candidates, this would then be a business decision of some kind ? Practical solutions . The wave input plugin for squeezeboxserver ? you can then play the files in WMP and then let the wave input plugin capture the audio ? Can you "wash" these files in some way ? maybe the tedious way of burning CD's and then rip them, you can reuse an rw disc for it maybe.. download music you already paid for as "backup copy" .Microsoft has historically abandoned other drm schemes leaving their customers in the cold with useless files. Using this kind of service is more like renting a movie than buying music . -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe'Primare and Dynadio speakers (including a pair of Contour 4 ) Bedroom/Office: Boom Kitchen: SB3 + powered Fostex PM0.4 Miscellaneous use: Radio (with battery) I use a Controller various ir-remotes and a Eee-PC with squeezeplay to control this ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75848 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
