Pretty sure it's still streaming audio - the router lights are doing "continuous blinky" activity, as opposed to just the odd wink. But - as I updated in my post - the unit does appear to properly go to sleep after a few more minutes.
If that's a byproduct of the architecture, I suppose I could live with that as a goofy quirk - as long as DI.fm doesn't kick me off for having multiple connections when I'm just moving between rooms.
