Sounds like something is up with the jack sensor. Maybe the speaker and jack output shares the same DSP, and the jack sensor disables the bass boost in the DSP or something. If that's it, I don't know if it can be overridden in software. Sorry. The Boom's audio design is described in a 'downloadable PDF' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/uploads/a/ad/Logitech_Squeezebox_Boom_Audio_Design.pdf), but I haven't seen anything like that for the Radio.
