The Radio currently is very pendantic about starting the fallback alarm even on very tiny network glitches (that maybe wouldn't influence the actual stream as part of it is buffered anyway).
So currently you can choose between two extremes: Boom: looks robust most of the time but could fail to wake you up. Radio: Too often plays a fallback alarm to wake you up which is annoying too. Beeing annoyed everyday by the Radio because of the fallback is of course more daunting than missing the flight that other day once a year with a Boom. I hope that something in between both extremes can be found one day. Unfortunately its hard to solve it 'right' with the current architecture. And changing the whole architecture just because of the alarm doesn't sell more devices - so won't happen. (nota bene: having a local 24/7 server I don't have issues with the alarm - wakes me up everyday without fallbacks - I'm very very happy with it.
