Right, forgot you have to do Wifi via USB or otherwise do wired Ethernet. Your adaptor looks like one of the ones that people have gotten working, but yeah, not exactly a painless process. I may check it out just for fun at some point, gives me a reason to get into this. Otherwise any old Wifi access point would work, no? Then just hook the Raspberry Pi to that, no need to mess with the kernel.
