One of my radios (UE smart radio) started exhibiting "white screen" syndrome. Where the lcd screen becomes inverted and almost impossible to read. It was gradual at first, with a reboot making it correct itself, but it eventually became permanent. I've noticed that there are few other posts reporting this problem.
I wanted to pass on the good news that it can be fixed relatively cheaply by swapping the lcd. It was a bit fiddly to do, but not too trouble some. It involved taking the radio apart and pressing out the lcd holder, taking care to remove the screen's ribbon from the circuit board correctly by lifting up the plastic place holder. Then placing the new lcd in the holder and connecting it all up again. The biggest problem I had was sourcing the replacement lcd. This did seem impossible at first, until I stumbled across the fact that the Logitech G19 keyboard (yes, keyboard !) uses the same lcd screen. This company has plenty of spare replacements in stock and they are only 17 euros each : http://www.eisgold.de/Logitech-Ersatzteil---G19-TFT-Display_detail_3799.html It arrived on the circuit board intended for the keyboard, but was easily prised off (with a little care). 16294 The serial number was revision number higher than the one in my UE smart radio, but that doesn't seem to matter. It is now working faultlessly again. Hope that information is of use to somebody. +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: IMG_20140828_212432.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=16294| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ expectingtofly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63263 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102052 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
