Happy to report another success. My Squeezebox had been suffering from the White Screen of Death for more than a year, but the Eisgold shop had stopped supplying the original replacement displays for some time. So thanks for the pointer, it's really good to know that there is a source for those parts.
Replacing the display was not so hard with the instructions in this forum. The most annoying thing was the ridiculous number of Philipps screws used to fix the board to the front panel ... Also, it took me some time to realize that you can simply pull of the knobs from the front panel in order to get the panel loose.
