Sounds like some info was cached was being used and it has now expired.

I suspect router changed channel and SB were looking on the old channel
as old SSID etc had been cached.  This info cache then expired and Radio
started looking properly again.

Personally I found that auto channel setting on routers general make
things worse. Keep a note of the channel setting and see if when
channels changes it coincides with a problem.
