In our section we have new commanders that want some training but want to wait for the new training to come out. What ideas do you guys have for this problem? I was thinking of a workshop for commanders, leading boys to Christ, and classroom control, maybe some program features.
The new training program will be released in March at National Council. Everything from a module to help existing commanders transition to the new program to the new training program leading to the LMA.
Big chunks of the existing training is still valuable -- the ones you point out are certainly among those that would be worthwhile for a new commander to study right now. If you are going to do training for new commanders, you may want to focus on the weekly meetings and leading boys to Christ right now. If you are going to teach anything about the advancement trail, you may want to look at the transitional GMA advancement trail that is available right now. If I were starting an outpost right now, I would NOT start my Pioneers or Trailblazers on the existing advancement trail -- we would immediately start on the transitional GMA trail.
