All,
The last two weeks we had five boys get saved.
These boys are Straight Arrows and Buckaroos.
On Nov 11 in the evening service we will be haveing a
water baptism. I would really like to see all five of these
boys be baptized. What would be a good way to talk of the importance of water baptism to this age group?
That is great!
All three of my children were baptized at the age of 5 or 6 years, and they knew exactly what it was about, and they made a life-long commitment that is still obvious in their lives. I'm not claiming that every child is ready at that age, but it is so much better to make a public commitment to Jesus Christ as soon as they are ready than to put it off. It lays a foundation for a life lived for the Lord that continues to strengthen as they grow. Never dampen a boy's enthusiasm for the Lord in this area.
The best way to approach it is to simply share the Scriptures on water baptism, and explain carefully what those mean. Then ask them to discuss it with their parents.
I rejoice in seeing people saved and baptized at any age, but especially with those who are old enough to make a decision for the Lord, but still young enough to have most of their lives to live for God. Never let the devil have any more influence in a child's life than you can stop, and never delay a child in coming to Jesus. Use spiritual discernment, and encourage them to discuss baptism with their parents and their pastor or children's minister.
Some of my best experiences in Royal Rangers have been in leading Straight Arrows to the Lord and in seeing them baptized. Praise the Lord!
