I think that I don't get the problem... You can add files from new 
directory to the list...

Anyway - if there is real problem with closing/opening multiple 
directories you can always limit batch to the current directory only:
- open directory -> clear queue (files are marked in xmls as batched)-> read 
xmls -> add proper files to the queue

You work in this moment on the one directory only and it's easy to extend 
that to many derectories if there will be some better idea. Remember that 
in this scheme I can mark files to the batch and process them later, i.e. 
when the laptop will not work on batteries... (and this can happen after 
many, many hours or even days :) ).
