Maybe some additional field in cache xml? eg.:
<batch-queue>A</batch-queue>

After processing there is added <exported> mark -> there is no problem to remove the batch sign then. The xmls are opened anyway
I have thought about it...but what should happen when rawstudio quits after 10 images has been placed in queue and not exported? They will look like they are in the queue..but are not...
and it should :) Why in this case photo shouldn't be added to queue? How each photo is marked for queue? Some memory table
It still doesn't work right, what if you open an other directory. The photos aren't added before the old directory is opened again...and we are back at having a lot of batch dependency when opening a directory...

I think that I don't get the problem... You can add files from new directory to the list...
Then you forget those images and next time you open them after half a year, they are added to batch queue...might be a little odd, i don't like it....
Anyway - if there is real problem with closing/opening multiple directories you can always limit batch to the current directory only:
- open directory -> clear queue (files are marked in xmls as batched)-> read xmls
-> add proper files to the queue
Well...what if you wish to prepare 2 or more sets of images and start batch processing of them when you go to bed...then that would be impossible...
You work in this moment on the one directory only and it's easy to extend that to many derectories if there will be some better idea. Remember that in this scheme I can mark files to the batch and process them later, i.e. when the laptop will not work on batteries... (and this can happen after many, many hours or even days :) ).
Well, the batch queue has been prepared for unlimited directories already...would be a shame to remove that feature. I'd rather find a proper solution to this problem...

Maybe it will help to store the batch queue in ~/.rawstudio/batch_queue.something - but it will still need some checking when loading a directory....
