I have a form that hides the second date unless it is needed if you are
interested.

That's a neat idea, never saw anyone design a form like that. That's a
great idea for a Generic date form.

In this instance, they are always selecting just one date, which is why a
calendar is so handy. And of course they do not have to select a second
date. It's not a date range, the two dates are used independently for two
types of calculations, but the 2nd calculation is not required.

I could hide the 2nd calendar and put a button or checkbox for "select 2nd
date for receipt date calculation" and then display the calendar. Which I
might do if they get confused by the display

Karen,
Would something like this work for you?

The form is very easy to use and users can pick any date span very quickly
with a few mouse clicks.
The form is pre-set with the current year pre-selected but you can
pre-select any date range.
The more used time spans can be easily selected by clicking on the
appropriate range. When you select a range, the corresponding start and end
dates are updated on the red colored fields at the bottom.
You can select a specific date span by clicking on the arrows next to the
“From” and “To” dates (highlighted in yellow) and the calendar will
pop with the current date highlighted where you can select a custom date.
9 out of 10 times the required time span needed is one of the pre-programmed
time spans, at least in my application, but you have the freedom to select
a custom time span.
You can modify the form to include date spans that fit you applications.
The form returns the To and From date values a 2 variables, vFrom Date and
vTo Date.

Karen,
I am using the latest version of X5 Enterprise 10.5.2.20820
I have found out that if you set the variable to NULL TODAY is highlighted
as if Today is selected, which is not the case. As soon as you select
another date , the selected date is highlighted
It seems to me that you can report this to the dream team, maybe they can
solve it
The work around is to set a date to the variable instead of a null value

I cannot replicate what you have. I changed my Color settings to match
exactly what you have, and today still comes up highlighted clearly. My
variable is initialized to null. Shown here:
What version are you using? Do you have any other settings checked on other
calendar tabs?

And unfortunately my previous "solution" doesn't work. I cannot have
"white" as the Date Selected Background color. You click a day, you can see
the highlight, but as soon as you move to another control (like my 2nd
calendar), your first selection totally disappears and is no longer
highlighted. So far I've changed the background to a very light grey so at
least it isn't as noticeable as the default blue, but it still looks like a
date has been selected in both calendars.

Karen,
I have tried this using Samples\RRBYW20 form EnhancedCalendar
The only thing I have changed was the setting in the enddate. It looks like
this
Error! Filename not specified.
As you can see the enddate does not show today.
the settings for the enddate are and the only one I have changed is Todays
Date Frame:
Error! Filename not specified.
So you can compare the settings of this example with the settings in your
own application.

I had already tried that. It works for you? Cuz it doesn't for me. I'm
using the latest 10.5 enterprise. Here's my property page and how the form
comes up with a null initialized variable. When I was previously playing
around with it, it does indeed seem to be the "frame" around the blue
highlight as it says. Changing it to white causes no frame around the
highlight, but it does not get rid of the blue highlight.

Thinking that I might submit an enhancement request to highlight NO date

Karen,
You can make today invisible
Error! Filename not specified.
Change Todays Date frame for instance to White
then Today is not highlighted anymore

Am I missing a setting on this control? I have a form come up where the
user is required to select one date, but the 2nd date is optional. "Today"
comes up highlighted on both calendars, and my users are confused because
they think the date is "selected" for the optional 2nd date. They try to
click it off and can't, and end up inadvertently selecting a 2nd date.

Is there a setting so that "today" is not highlighted?
Error! Filename not specified.

Karen
