You can use remote desktop with 1 user per PC or terminal server on a
windows server for multiple users (if you get enought licenses from MS) or
Citrix equivilant. Windows terminal server effectivly allows you to do the
same as remote desktop but on the server with multiple connections.

Citrix effectivly does the same but with their own software etc, each has
its own proponents.

My memory is that the terminal server licenses run about $100 each, but you
should check. Remote desktop only goes 1 user to 1 pc, but has no added
license cost. Not sure on Citrix costs.

You would have to ask Razzak about the RB client server version, not sure if
it will run over web or not, but I think so.

Bob,

I was just asked the other day about something like this.
I'm thinking of perhaps a thin-client or something like that.
You create a mini application and compile it that has all the forms
and reports in it but the actual resides on the remote server.

I'm not sure if that is what you are talking about or not.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Web Access Question

List,

Need some advice and ideas.
I have a complicated application residing on a server.
The client wants others to be able to access this application over the web
from off-site locations.
A web app is out of the question, I do not have the time nor expertise to
recreate this, it is constantly moving target!

Solo..
How do I allow multiple (maybe 5 or more) users to use this application over
the web?
Will remote desktop allow multiple users?
Is there a third party product that does this?
Do I need a bank of remote PCs attached to the server for each user to
access?

A couple years ago, I was hoping that client server would do this, but I
guess moving forms and data over the web is too slow. The R:Base
application tools and forms are just so easy and superior. I have not seen
a web app that can work like this. If I had the time, maybe, but this is
too far along to re-write and have all the rules and form doodads
recreated.

Any ideas appreciated, I am speaking to a network guy tomorrow sometime and
wanted some ideas.

TIA
