Just called me to say they're getting a new server, will be running
Microsoft Server 2008. They're all panicked about whether 7.1 will
work on the new OS. I told them their product is out of date so RBTI
will not certify that.
In a typical situation like this, all you have to do is to ask them
a very simple question:
Why are you getting a new server?
Why are you planning to run Microsoft Server 2008?
I can tell you the exact answer you are going to hear. Then, all you
have to say is the following:
So, you are totally convinced that the new server with Windows 2008
is going to be helpful and will do amazing things and so on ... By
doing that you most likely are going to upgrade everything else along
with it. Correct?
Then why in the world do you think R:BASE 7.1, released 03/16/2004,
is still going to work?
Knowing the fact that there have been at least four major versions
since then, why would you expect R:BASE Technologies to support 7.1?
Get real and get a life! My personal response to such customer(s)
would be very clear and straight forward. Why are they using R:BASE?
