Albert, I agree with you that a "server" install would offer best of possibilities. Only problem is that if you purchase a single user license you are not offered "server" as an option for the initial install.
Would be nice if that was offered. I always use Server update. The advantage is that one can operate with more than one version of R:Base without interference with other versions on the same computer. My C$0.02 worth.
