networked, then that can be eliminated and the problem is with the 
workstations. Although Windows 7 will “run” with as little as 1 GB of memory (2 
GB for Win 7 -64) and a processor as slow a 1 GHz, it will not do it well; 4 GB 
is the least memory they should have to run efficiently. This is the first 
thing I would check.

  It seems like it was lifetime ago when I was working on 7.6, so my 
recollection of conflicts for that version is fuzzy. One thing you can try is 
running R:Base using the XP compatibility mode. To do this, right click on the 
R:Base executable, select properties and then go to the compatibility tab. 
There are several compatibility options; XP SP2 or SP3 are good choices.

  Also, make sure that here are not conflicting DLLs stored in different 
directories.
