Karen,
There are several things that you could check. If the applications are not networked, then that can be eliminated and the problem is with the workstations. Although Windows 7 will "run" with as little as 1 GB of memory (2 GB for Win 7 -64) and a processor as slow a 1 GHz, it will not do it well; 4 GB is the least memory they should have to run efficiently. This is the first thing I would check. It seems like it was lifetime ago when I was working on 7.6, so my recollection of conflicts for that version is fuzzy. One thing you can try is running R:Base using the XP compatibility mode. To do this, right click on the R:Base executable, select properties and then go to the compatibility tab. There are several compatibility options; XP SP2 or SP3 are good choices. Also, make sure that here are not conflicting DLLs stored in different directories. I wasn't involved, all this was a surprise to me to learn (I don't do much with this client). According to my notes, RBase was installed locally on each workstation and is not on the server. I'm assuming that's what they did on the windows 7 workstations too. Ever since those workstations went up, they're complaining of slow database speed, lots of 'access violation' to the rbase .dll.... I haven't seen any postings addressing this. Anyone have something I can troubleshoot? With a normal workstation installation, I'm assuming that the dlls were placed in the windows subdirectory -- could that be the problem? Karen
