Wordperfect will do this if you include the path of your saved files in the
indexing engine and so does Word.  I set the indexer on word to point to
folders containing over 300mb of files.  I asked for a search in word to
find all files containing "Oterro".  The results were in the search window
in an undeterminal time (like an RBase full index search, instantaneous).
So you don't have to add any software to your machine for index searches,
you already have it if you have Word/Wordperfect/Office.  BTW, it's the
FindFast applet in Control Panel (you can set multiple indexes and set the
update interval, etc).  Further, If you don't know how to access the search,
it's in the File Open dialog in an Office App on the little Tools dropdown
in the upper right hand corner of the dialog.  It gives you a form to set
the search criteria......
