A workable solution until the size of your backup
is > 650MB . Mine is > 15GB. Also, on the original
question, My web hosting is done by a company that has a few server farms.
They guaranted > 99.99 uptime. www.superb.net . Not a paid
advertisement. I'm just pretty pleased with them so far.

Backing up to CRR/RW easily.
Dennis, Inexpensive and very portable is
CDR/RW. We write all of our databases and application files to CDRW twice /
day and burn a CDR once / day. We use the scheduler that comes with Windows
and works like a charm. Many times I have had to look back at the library of
CDR's to find a predated version due to a propagated error of of one sort or
another. We have completely abandon tape as it can be very slow to access and
other problems. We use Back-up Plus from http://www.avantrix.com/ which compresses all files into
one file that is stored on to cdr. I can get any file off the backup in under
1 minute! They have a trial version and I think it costs 39.95 (well worth
it!). It is the best backup software I have ever used. It has its own
scheduler built in.
Just my .02.

I would add that they should keep
a complete copy of their website, and indeed, all their company data, on
tape/CD and in a bank vault, fireproof and offsite. All mission critical
information should have a complete backup plan, including plans for disaster
recovery. Mr. Murphy, assisted by hackers, can be a very expensive
problem.
