Ditto on shellacked cloth.

I've tried Brooks leather, shellacked cork, and modern plastic.
Shellacked cloth comes out as my favorite.
Durability is excellent. I had over 7k miles on shellacked blue cloth
on my Romulus when I sold it and the tape was still in excellent shape.
