I've been considering replacing my stock Shimano cables (not the
housings) with Aztec or Jagwire cables. I can feel a detented,
"bumpiness" when squeezing my brakes and when shifting, and I
attribute this to the normal twist in the cables. I'm hoping to find
a way to achieve super smooth braking and shifting, but I don't want
to dive into this sort of experiment unless I know that these fancy
cables will actually fit in stock Shimano housing and that these
aftermarket cables are known to be worth the effort. Anybody have any
experience with doing something like this? FYI, I have a stock Ram
with the classic Shimano levers and bar end shifters (indexing turned
off).

Thanks!
