I've encountered similar issues with other Nitto front racks. They work
well on many bikes, but may require clamps or other custom solutions.

I'm having a dickens of a time trying to mount a front rack for lowriders
on my girlfriend's San Marcos. Obviously, this bike wasn't designed to be
"front rack friendly" as much as more touring-oriented Rivs. I can
appreciate the design work required to make the racks and frames pair up
well!

I tried to mount the Nitto Campee front, but it's too short to use the
lower eyelets (it's a 26" model, so it has less clearance. I picked it up
used, not knowing there are two sizes). I'm going to put on some Tubus
Stay mounting clamps (#3 from Wayne at TheTouringStore
<http://www.thetouringstore.com/TUBUS/Fit%20Solutions/FIT%20SOLUTIONS%20PAGE.htm>)
in place of the upper eyelets, and then the Tubus Alloy fork mounts (#4
from the same page) for the upper stays.

I also tried to mount a Nitto Big Front rack (34F) to the SM, but the
mid-fork mount points are too wide to use p-clamps. Or, the SM fork is too
narrow to reach. I thought about using a Nitto stay setup like on the
Campee, but the mid-rack rails are too narrow to fit the Nitto rack bolt/nut
<http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/rh1-20184.htm>. So far, the Big Front
doesn't fit any of my bikes, unless I feel like bending the sides in
dramatically.
