It would be nice if there was more than one train a day that linked DC
with Pittsburgh so that you could arrive at a decent hour, and if you
also weren't required to put your bike in a box to bring it onboard.
But at least you can bring a bike on that train route -- while bikes
can be brought onboard all off-peak NJ Transit trains here in New
Jersey, Amtrak's Northeast Corridor trains (linking Boston, NYC,
Philly and DC) allow only folding bikes.
Amtrak keeps promising us roll on/roll off service on the DC to
Pittsburgh train, currently scheduled for implementation shortly after
the 2nd Coming.
