For a long time I've preferred to bolt my rear fenders directly to the
seatstay bridge, where my frames have this sort of threaded hole. I place a
wide, thin washer -- "fender washer"? -- between head of bolt and inside of
fender, and I've had no problems, even with a lot of dirt riding with fat
fenders, using both SKS and PB fenders. That said, I think the PBs are
sturdier.
