I have had good luck with Sunday Afternoon hats. The ones I have used are nylon. With the large-brim models, I can be outside all day in the sun without sunscreen, and still remain as pale as a ghost. People think I didn't go on vacation. They have a large line. Some models have a chin strap for retention. I have not tried to use them for cycling, since I wear a helmet.
