My only point is that every time I see a thread such as this one (and I've seen scores of them over the years) at least one person mentions how he or she dropped/passed a roadie or a Fred. The implication is that it is always the "roadie" or "Fred" who was rude or smug or competitive or aggressive or envious or dumb or ignorant or condescending. Are other riders sometimes not nice? Yes. Do they denigrate us or our bikes? Yes. Does each case require context? Of course. But my point remains: each culture (such as bicyclists) tends to subdivide into subcultures, and some members -- not all of them -- of these subcultures enjoy pointing fingers at the members of the other subcultures who are "doing it wrong." It's human nature. No big deal. I agree with Hugh: it's springtime! Here's wishing that Julian and everyone else on this list has a safe season, with more kindness on the roads.
