Leah, I think they are less than ideal for riding - they have NO padding. Some folks like that, but I'm in the a little padding is good camp. Also, and I may be more sensitive to this than others because I'm a large animal veterinarian - they smell like buck. Yep, like intact male goat urine. I can only assume they are made out of male goat leather...
