The Rivs will run fatter. I have 700x50 Cazaderos on my Joe Appaloosa and Continental Race Kings on my Clem L. I think you can get a 45 on the BMC. As a gravel bike, the Joe is hard to beat -- if really fat tires are part of what you want. Took me a while and bunch of tinkering to get it the fit just right, but as a true "anyroad" bike, the Joe is hard to beat.
