Why not?  Disc brakes are good.  Maybe they they don't have the character or aesthetics of our beloved rim brakes, but they are good, even better when added to the already wonderful qualities of a Riv. (lugged Hunqadiscer for me please)



Why not?  Well, two reasons might be that they require ultra-stiff forks that destroy that nice ride you admire, and that they seem to go hand in hand with the adoption of new standards that make the use of those parts that are so characteristic of Rivendell builds out of the question.
