Ana, I find one strap is adequate ... until it isn’t. Grin. On rough 
roads/trails, one strap, no matter how snug, allows the load to twist around 
and that can get interesting. Thus, my minimum of two, and adding a third to 
the seat post when bulkier. I did 40 lbs in my ShopSack this way recently and 
the load handled beautifully.
