Riv, people don't have problems with headsets coming loose!? Wow, I wonder what their secret is, I've never owned a bike with a quill stem that didn't eventually need to be tightened. (& I've tried many techniques to tighten them so they don't come loose). On the other hand I've never had a threadless come loose. Despite, arguments on both sides Grants desire to keep things compatible with other things out there is the best reason, because in the bike industry 1" quill stems are NOT making a comeback.
