I've used them for a long time on my Bombadil, and I like them a lot. For 
dirt riding, I very much appreciate the stiffness, which feels like greater 
control to me. As for hand positions, I've used at least 3: on the grips; 
on the levers; and just beyond the levers. Also, I think the idea that 
multiple positions are necessary for long rides is only the case if the 
bars don't fit. All of my mountain bikes have flat bars, and I've ridden 8 
hour mountain rides with my hands not leaving the grips. The same with the 
Bombadil, which I've also taken on 4 hour road rides with the bullmoose, no 
problem.
