Lambbo, you can use a circular file to remove some of the material at the
end of the caliper arm, thereby allowing you to run the pads slightly
lower. I've had to do this as well.

As for long-reach brakes in the wet. I have a rim-brake road bike that was
my daily commuter here in Portland, Oregon for about 4 years and I had to
replace the rims every 14-18 months. Diligent cleaning of the rims after
every ride helps a whole lot, but it's a pain to ride in the rain, then
wash your bike outside in the cold & rain before taking it inside. I tried
many different brake pad solutions over the years and couldn't really
discern between the black & salmon pads, except the salmon wore out
faster. As for braking performance, it's has never been great with my
Tekro 559 calipers. My commute is over a 900' climb so going down the
other side into PDX is just not that good. I moved to a disc brake road
bike with Shimano Ultegra hydraulic brakes and the difference in stopping
performance is massive. If you are riding in the rain, disc brakes are the
way to go.

First post here. Been looking for a Bleroit 57cm, just like the one that
sold last week before I could answer!
