I did something similar to what Friend suggests. The front of my SKS fender broke off where I cut slots to allow my side pulls room around the fender. I simply used aluminum flashing and attached it to the bottom of the rack using the existing screws. Worked fine. I don’t have that setup anymore so can’t provide photos.
