The BMC Road+ has some interesting geometry. If you look at the effective reach and standover you will see that most riders ride a size WAY smaller. Where I would normally ride a 53 or 54 the suggested size from Mike at BMC for me would be the 47 frame. So that 44 probably rides much closer to a 50 or 51 frame.
