R Shannon,
If interested, here is a Flickr album + two, that I put together from a March,
2018 Trace trip from Natchez to Nashville with two buddies:

The three of us did not explore stop at Tishomingo State Park, or the creeks
and waterfalls like Wyatt did, but did camp most of the way, except for a storm
in Tupelo and a delightful stay in a log cabin at French Camp, MS - highly
recommended! Spring or Fall are definitely recommended. We chose south-to-north
to "follow" the emerging spring weather. Apparently the Spring can be more
volatile (tornadoes) though. We saw evidence of that from two weeks before in
southern Miss.

Wyatt,
Thanks for that description. I have also contemplated doing the trail.Fall
would also be my choice for best time to do the ride.
How long did your trip take and what did you do for accommodations?
Thank you!

Tim: I enjoyed it, especially the stretch from Nashville down to about
Tishomingo State Park in Mississippi. That's the hilliest section of riding and
just about every 15 or 20 miles there is another clear creek or waterfall to
cool off in. Lots of trees, great hammock camping, worth taking it slow. Don't
miss the old CCC swinging bridge hidden at the back of Tishomingo State Park,
especially because it leads to the last good creek on the route. Around Tupelo,
you hit the mosquito line and the bugs start coming out in thick black clouds
ready to eat you alive. Be prepared. Definitely take the bike path detour off
the Trace that passes through Jackson, not only does it get you out of bad
traffic, but it's also just a nice ride. The last 125 miles or so are hot and
mostly flat and good for a fast finish if you have it in you. (I was ready for
it to be over.) I'd do it again, but probably in the late fall.

Wyatt,
What touring on the Trace like? I’ve been thinking about that trip for ages.

Thanks,
