I never understood the point of arguing with an officer in these situations. It only serves to prolong the incident? I also find it interesting to see animosity towards people doing their job from what is usually a super friendly group of people. (Cyclists and especially RBW cyclists)
I’ve never been pulled over on my bike in spite of doing many stop sign slow rolls. I have however set up many operations where I had a law enforcement officer on a bike with a radio and a marked car behind them. The officer would ride and report when vehicles passed too closely in violation of state law. Then the vehicle would be stopped and driver educated. Those quickly got the word out that cyclist safety was being taken seriously along that busy stretch of highway.
