Patrick, how would you get 3 shiftable cogs on the back? What I did with my 
Cheviot was put a singleator kit on the rear and kept two rings up front, I 
can't picture how your reversed idea would work.*

*Of course I also can't picture pulling, say, a 9-speed cassette to replace 
with 3, but that's another topic 😬
