Maeve, you are not alone with the streetcar rail mishap.  I did that once 
on a borrowed Peugeot in the middle of a busy plaza in Amsterdam. Went down 
hard. I was bruised but thankfully by some miracle I was able to return the 
bike to its owner unscathed.  Heal quickly !!!
