I seem to recall reading about there being brass upgrades to the washers on these levers that is supposed to improve the performance… but I have no experience with the Silver shifters personally.

So the Silver shifters on my Clem with a lot of miles are shifting poorly. More specifically the right side mounted inside "Riv" style operating the rear derailer is hard as hell to move. Not being a rapid rise it shifts "forward" to a higher gear effortlessly. But, when "pulled" backwards to shift to an easier gear it takes a LOT of effort & gets more difficult the higher up the cassette you go. Getting it to the largest cog is damn near impossible and nearly runs out of travel. In addition, when pulled back it wants to return forward unless I tighten  the d ring to a point that feels too tight. What might I be doing wrong?
Thanks for any and all help.
