Well, this is wonderful news, David! I plan to do that trail in full next summer with the famous Pam Murray, so the both of us will likely have the pleasure of meeting you and seeing the shop!

I am back and forth this year between Columbus and SW Michigan, but I do plan to ride Pelatonia this summer, so if you’re riding it I’ll look for your Rivs in the crowd.

I’ve been hearing such great things from people about Ohio riding; I can hardly wait to see for myself. We’re paring down the list for homes/lots we’re considering. Just one year and then I plan to drive across the state border, throw my stuff in the house and hit the trails, on the lookout for new bike friends…

I’l see you soon!

Hello! David here—I work at Westerville Bike Shop. The Ohio To Erie Trail cuts right through Westerville, which is also famous for being the birthplace of Prohibition. I’ve owned two Rivs (a Chev and a Clem) and I’m currently hunting for a Hillborne (54cm anyone?). Come check out our shop sometime, and if I’m there I’m always stoked to talk about Rivendells or biking in Ohio!

Leah,

Not an Ohioan, but my in-laws live in Columbus, and I've done some riding on the trails around the city and the Scioto River with my wife's brother-in-law. What can be a really good thing is to settle where you can easily ride to any of the trails' access points. I'm not a fan of driving my bike to go for a ride, and I have been spoiled where I live.

Check out some of the maps available online, like the Columbus Metro Bike Map.

Much of my riding there begins at the in-laws' in Upper Arlington and reaches the trail before riding on or crossing even medium thorofares.

Sorry for both your and Rusty's rainy GAP/C&O rides last year. Staring at your front wheel or a couple of feet ahead is no way to really enjoy that ride. Having easy access to great riding lets you pick the weather and then the ride instead of the reverse. I am fortunate that most of my GAP rides come about that way instead of on calendar pages (October IS the least precipitous for that ride).

Good luck with your geographic cycling transition.

Hi friends,

We have been lured from Michigan to Columbus, Ohio. I will hang back a year until we graduate our junior. I am so sad to leave Michigan, but am  always excited for new adventures, and especially of the biking kind. I am hoping some of you are in that area and maybe we can meet for some rides.
