Most of my riding is North/South along the river valley which is pretty
much flat, but you get at least some of the experience riding against our
typical strong Southwesterlies.

10.something miles spinning merrily North along Corrales lateral making
good time despite the sand, and 10.something miles grinding back South, in
the sand.

Didn’t get lower than a 60” gear. Hah!

Too busy spinning outbound to stop and take pictures, and too busy grunting
with nose to bar homebound to take pictures.

18 to 22, gusts 22 to 29.

Great fun! And very pretty on a late Spring morning.

But bb is creaking and must fix, but will wait until the SJS 42 t TA
chainrings arrive before disassemble the drivetrain (44/28 to be swapped
for 42/24, and 14-28 to be swapped for 13-28.)

Aside: Has anyone successfully set up RH Snoqualmie Pass ELs or Hatcher
Pass ELs tubeless? I’m thinking of a second, more road-biased wheelset for
this Matthews, mmore pavement-friendly than the 54 mm Thunderburt
extralights, for rides involving a lot of pavement but with tires
comfortable on firm dirt. I’m leaning toward the Snoqualmies for the
lighter weight and — I don’t need more than the ~44-46 mm that these ought
to measure tubeless on Blunt SS’s. But the Oracle Ridge Standards I had
were very difficult to use tubeless — leaking on bead, prone to slow leaks;
I replaced them with the Thunderburts.
