Patrick, I don't know how the stays on the Fargo are shaped, but if they are anything like a Bombadil, or Atlantis for that matter, I don't think a 44t ring can be used unless it's on the 3rd (outside) position of the crank. It's meant for a mountain bike chainline and crank.
