That is all correct Patrick. I got the crank once upon a time for a singlespeed (actually, double-double). With the recent geared build, I swapped the single chainring out for the VBC 40x24. BB is a 118 to give ample clearance, but i could get away with a 110 if I was willing to space out to the right a bit--I had decent clearance with a 110.5 when I was playing around a bit.
And yes, srp is high -- when I bought most of the shiny bits, I was working in a shop. I would argue that it is worth supporting US makers like White who are doing strong and unique work. I'm happy to support operations like that, even at cost. That fluctuates for me, and my ability to do so is no longer since I've quit work and went back to school. It's an very stiff and useful crank, also a change of pace from my triple on the atlantis, it keeps plenty of range as well. Fun stuff. erik On Sat, Oct 9, 2010 at 8:04 AM, Garth <garth...@gmail.com> wrote: > > Patrick, I don't know how the stays on the Fargo are shaped, but if > they are anything like a Bombadil, or Atlantis for that matter, I > don't think a 44t ring can be used unless it's on the 3rd (outside) > position of the crank.
