Yep, makes perfect sense now. There are little bumps that would result in what looks like a very small amount "more" room for the housing to be. They work off of the housing, not the cable...DUH!. Thanks Shoji! Still though it looks like a very small amount. Perhaps enough to pull a stubborn noodle from its cradle.
