Here’s my solution to pump rattle, which for some reason (the rattle) seems to be specific to my Rivendell Road. I wrapped the pump handle with several turns of cloth bar tape, and topped that off with a wrapping of heavy black thread. This stopped the occasionally clunking of the pump against the top tube.
