I'm enjoying this thread as it allows me to learn about yet another
Rivendell that was long gone by the time I discovered RBW.

I am just enthralled with 55mm Big Apples on 26" rims and now I'm setting
my long-term sights on a good bike to utilize that combo. Right now I've
got them on my old 1995 Trek 730 hybrid (a 700c bike) and it's an absolute
blast to ride! The problem is.....no brakes, for obvious reasons. I have
a cheap aftermarket fork on it and I'm seriously considering having the
canti studs moved to accommodate brakes for 26" wheels. The geometry of
this bike is surprisingly close to the Riv All-Rounder and I can see why
people love those All-Rounders so much. The geometry is fairly nimble yet
the wide tires give it a surprising amount of stability. Sort of
oxy-moronic in it's handling. In contrast, my 700c bike with 40mm Duremes
feels twitchy and unstable.

The XO-1 seems to sporty for my tastes and the Atlantis seems a bit too
slanted toward touring but the All-Rounder sounds just about perfect for
what I'm looking for in a bike.
